"Koi"

"A Painting A Day"
to Benefit
The Lake County Haven

7" x 5" Watercolor on Paper
SOLD

A few crusts of bread have been tossed into the water. This koi fish is swimming intently towards the far edge of the pond to join the feeding frenzy, hoping to catch a nibble.

This painting was very fun to do. The style is looser as I allowed the paint and water to mingle and mix to create the feeling that this fish was both above and below the surface of the water. I also wanted to convey movement, so after the fish was painted, I used a dry brush to pull the paint across the paper to imply the surface of the water.

Chelsea Black frame with velvet easel back

This painting is offered for sale on ebay. Custom framing is included when the bid meets the amount required in the description.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Lake County Haven to help it fulfill its mission to empower homeless women and their children to achieve permanent, independent living. Founded in 1992, the Haven fulfills its mission by providing shelter, housing, and professional services in support of its residents and graduates.
