"Vintage Peony"

"A Painting a Day" to Benefit The Lake County Haven

5" x 5" Watercolor and Gouache on Parchment
SOLD
This painting is is framed as shown.
8" square Renaissance Black frame.

The peony is one of my favorite flowers. So many varieties and colors bring a showy display in Spring. Their blossoms are round and generous, their fragrance is enchanting. Peonies have been esteemed flowers in China for a long time. Because peonies were popular in Sui and Tang dynasty imperial palaces, they are associated with high value, honor and nobility. In Victorian England, peonies granted its recipient the power to keep a secret and also suggested bashfulness. To many, peonies embody romance, prosperity, good fortune and a happy marriage.

Similar in style, composition and palette to the previously offered, "Vintage Poppy" this little gem will brighten any small space.
Purchasing this painting will, in part, help The Lake County Haven fulfill its mission to empower homeless women and their children to achieve permanent, independent living. Founded in 1992, the Haven fulfills its mission by providing shelter, housing, and professional services in support of its residents and graduates.
